The Cable Guy (1996) is a dark comedy film directed by Ben Stiller, starring Jim Carrey as an obsessive cable installer, Chip Douglas, who relentlessly tries to befriend a new customer, Steven Kovacs (Matthew Broderick). After Steven rejects his advances, Chip retaliates by sabotaging his life, leading to a thriller-like escalation. The film, written by Lou Holtz Jr., was a box office success but received mixed reviews, though it has since gained a significant cult following for its darker tone and Carrey's performance.
