Villagers mock a man obsessed with contacting extraterrestrial life - until one that he's been calling for suddenly arrives.

The Alien is a heartfelt science-fiction drama set in a remote village in Russia's Ural Mountains, where an eccentric outsider's lifelong dream of contacting extraterrestrial life unexpectedly comes true. Living alone in a makeshift home built from discarded materials, Lyokha spends his days creating crop circles and searching the skies for signs of intelligent life while enduring ridicule from the surrounding villagers. When an actual extraterrestrial visitor finally arrives, the encounter transforms both his life and the isolated community around him, revealing surprising parallels between alien visitors and those who feel like outsiders within their own society.

Combining gentle humor, emotional storytelling, and classic science-fiction themes, the film explores loneliness, acceptance, disability, and belonging through a compassionate lens. Director Ivan Sosnin crafts an uplifting modern fable that celebrates empathy and reminds viewers that those who seem different often understand one another best.
