Dissatisfied with the state of the world he determines the best way to change things is to assassinate the president of Finland. A talented marksman, he practices on a real target before working up to the key event. His antics draw attention from the police and he finds himself increasingly under pressure as detective Hanhivaara closes in. As Asko, Hannu Lauri won Finland’s top acting prize for his chilling performance, while the production itself was an anomaly in the Finnish film industry, an explosive thriller influenced by Hollywood that created a new blend of delirious Eurocrime. Now newly restored from original negative materials, Farewell, Mr. President is released for the first time on any format outside of Finland.

BLU-RAY LIMITED EDITION SPECIAL FEATURES

2K restoration of the film from the original negative by Radiance Films

Interview with screenwriter Taavi Kassila (2026)

Interview with programmer Matti Rämö (2026)

Original trailer, newly scanned for this release

Gallery of rare imagery including behind-the-scenes photos

Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Time Tomorrow

Booklet featuring new writing by Matti Rämö

Limited edition of 2000 copies, presented in full-height Scanavo packaging with removable OBI strip leaving packaging free of certificates and markings

Format: Blu-ray

UPC: 760137229094

Street Date: 01/26/27

Label: Radiance »

Genre: Drama

Run Time: 87 mins

Number of Discs: 1

Audio: STEREO

Year of Production: 1987

Region Code: 0

Territory: NORTH AMERICA

Language: Finnish

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0597/9878/2001/files/rn-image_picker_lib_temp_bdefcdcb-acf4-4177-9187-2c3b213c101f.jpg?v=1791650186
